Online worship will still be taking place each Sunday at 10:30

Welcome to back Timperley Methodist Church.

We know it has been a difficult time for many people with unique challenges for each of us. Your health and safety is our priority. We want you to know that all reasonable measures are being taken to minimize the risk of COVID transmission in the building. Before attending church you must be comfortable that there will be a residual risk and that is something we all have to accept.

Will church look and be different?

Seating has been arranged to maintain social distancing rules, which apply to everyone, please observe the signs.  Services will be shorter and there will be a lack of congregational singing. However there will be music to enjoy and images to see. At present you will only be able to sit in a group of up to six and only if the others are in the same household. There can be no interation with others outside your group. We will not be serving refreshments on the premises. This will be reviewed at the end of October. Please return to this page for the latest information.

Where do I go?

You will be welcomed at the entrance where you will be asked to use the hand sanitizer provided before being shown to a seat. All doors will be open to minimize the need to touch handles and increase ventilation.

Do I need to wear a mask? Who can I sit with?

Government requires masks to be worn in places of worship. There are good reasons not to wear a mask and if you are in one of these categories you will still be welcome in church. We follow current government guidance and change our advice accordingly.

Can I attend if I am over 70 or vulnerable?

If you are clinically vunerable or over the age of 70 you may be of higher risk of severe illness from COVID. As we phase the reopening of the church over the next few months, we advise you to follow all government guidelines about social distancing. You can attend church whilst keeping 2m away from others wherever possible or 1m if you are wearing a facemask.

Do I need to bring anything?

Please bring only one bag to church.Feel free to bring a few items to ensure your comfort in church. For example;•A pen for completing contact form•Small bottle of water•Tissues•Sweets

Do you need my contact details?

We will collect name and contact details of people attending in case authorities need to conductcontact tracing. This information will be kept secure and destroyed after 21 days.

What if I still do not wish to return to church?

Don't worry if you feel you do not wish to come back to church yet. We will still be broadcasting a service live each Sunday at 10:30am for those who feel they can't attend in person. To watch this service and others that have previously been recorded please go to https://thesundayservice.gallery.video/altrinchammethodist

At present we are only opening for worship and prayer. This will be reviewed during October. If you attend a group that meets at Timperley Methodist Church please check with your group leader to see if your group is meeting. For latest information on the re-opening of all our circuit buildings please check here.

During this time, with an almost daily escalation of recommendations for self-isolation of those among us who are vulnerable, elderly and/or with compromised immune systems, we felt it essential that we should all have access to a central helpline.  This will ensure that if you need any help or support, be it assistance with shopping, pastoral support, prayer, hospital/GP visits or just simply someone to talk to, we can make the quickest response.

There are three ways of contacting the helpline:

1). Telephone the Circuit office on 0161 928 0022.  Calls received to this number will be forwarded to the most appropriate person in the pastoral team who can help with your request. The office is not staffed all the time. Please leave a message on the answer phone.

2). Email your request to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

3). Send a text message to 07860 015449.  This will be forwarded to the email address above. his is text only, you cannot speak on this number.

When contacting us, please state your name and contact number and the reason for your call so that we can respond quickly and appropriately.  Can we stress that no reason for calling is too trivial - we are here and available to help with any concerns you may have.  All of those involved in this new pastoral initiative will have been DBS checked and will have added business cover to their car insurance.

You may well receive offers of help with shopping etc from other members of the community.  Most of these are likely to be genuine but please do take care not to make yourself vulnerable to any abuse, however improbable.  If in any doubt, please get in touch with us.
