Policy Statement

The Missions Group is one of the three Groups that seek to develop the work of God through Timperley Methodist Church. It is specifically charged by the Church Council with the responsibility of providing help and support to those in need:

  • within the local congregation
  • in the local community
  • and overseas

and thereby improve their quality of life, by reflection, prayer and direct action.

The Missions Group seeks to focus attention on, and foster support for, particular agencies through whom this is achieved. The Group is broken down into a number of sub groups, each with a named co-ordinator and seeks to focus attention on the following:

Meeting local needs

  • Ad hoc groups to meet particular needs as they arise

Meeting needs through national agencies

  • Home Missions
  • Network
  • NCH Action for Children
  • Methodist Homes

Meeting global needs

  • JMA
  • Fair Trade
  • Christian Aid
  • Bible Society
  • Overseas Missions

The Missions Group seeks to work in partnership with Churches Together in Timperley and foster Christian Unity.
