Brownies and Guides

 

 3rdA Timperley Brownies and 3rd Timperley Guides meet at Timperley Methodist Church
on Monday evenings from 5.30pm and 7pm respectively.

Brownies (For girls aged 7 to 10½)*

Brownies follow a varied eight-point programme of activities.

Brownies…… are Wide Awake, Do Their Best, Help at Home, Make Things, Are Friendly, Have Fun Out of Doors, Lend a Hand, Keep Healthy

During their time in Brownies the girls work through various challenges in order to gain their Footpath, Road and Highway Badges. Interest badges can also be gained. The girls work together both in the unit and also in their "sixies".

Pack Holidays give an opportunity for the Brownies to experience a residential weekend, and are usually held annually.

Guides (For girls aged 10½ to approx. 15)*

3rd Timperley Guides is part of Girlguiding UK (formerly The Guide Association).

The Guides spend time in their small groups (patrols) and have the opportunity to be responsible for the weekly programme and their part in it. They work on challenges and activities at the weekly meetings, the topics (which are called "Go For Its") currently available are:

Healthy Eating, Parties, Teamwork, Fitness, Crafts and Drama, Chocolate challenge, Residential experiences.

Recent activities at 3rd Timperley Guides include: cookery; taking part in a pantomime; various crafts; fundraising; a senses evening; going ten-pin bowling; swimming; an evening preparing and using various natural beauty products; canoeing; learning how to care for your skin and nails from a beautician; learning about different religions; discussing health and well being.

Each year a camp is held for the guides. As well as an opportunity for the girls to experience living and working together in the out-of-doors, it also provides the chance for them to take part in activities such as canoeing, archery, bike-riding, trails etc.

Uniform consists of sweatshirts, polo- and rugby-shirts, worn with trousers.
