3rd Timperley Guide Unit
3rd Timperley Guides is part of Girlguiding UK, the largest voluntary youth organization for girls and young women in the UK.
The Guide section is for girls aged 10-14 years.
The aim of Guiding:
"The aim of guiding is to help girls and young women develop emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually so that they can make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world".
The Guides spend time in their patrols (small groups) and have the opportunity to be responsible for the weekly programme and their part in it. They work on challenges and activities at the week meetings, the topics (which are called "Go-For-Its") currently cover such themes as:
Healthy Eating, Environment Challenges, Fashion, Parties, Teamwork, Fitness, Crafts, Drama, Wider World, Communication.
Along with these we also do such activities as cookery, games, fundraising, crafts etc.
Each year girls from the unit have the opportunity to take part in a residential event with the unit. In recent years we have enjoyed a couple of outdoor activity weekends at a Girlguiding Centre near Lancaster, along with a County camp at Tatton Park. We currently have plans for an indoor holiday next spring and a camp next summer. As part of our residential events we usually have the opportunity to take part in various outdoor activities such as archery, climbing, canoeing, orienteering etc.
Guide uniform consists of a selection of sweatshirts, polo shirts etc. A catalogue containing the various items that can be purchased as uniform is available from the Guide Leader, alternatively it can be viewed on the Girlguiding UK website.

How can people get involved?
We welcome new guides, however we do have a waiting list and you are advised, if you are interested in joining, to telephone the Guide Leader to add your name to the list. This can be done in advance of your 10th birthday.
